  • West Somerset Railway   take the steam trains as far as Bishop’s Lydeard near Taunton, or to Minehead. Gala weekends, Cream tea specials and loads more.
  • Pubs   The Smugglers Inn has freshly cooked food, served in cosy interior or pleasant garden; The Blue Anchor pub serves food all day.
  • Driftwood Café   excellent home-made meals and snacks.
  • Indoor swimming pool, plus crazy golf & kids’ playground, at the Hoburne Caravan Park a few minutes’ walk away.
  • General store selling everything from milk to fishing bait and newspapers also on Hoburne site.
  • Home Farm   small working farm with many animals, farm shop with local meats, jams etc, tea room serving home-made cakes and cream teas, & farm trail.


 

 

Nearby

  • Watchet   3 ˝  miles away, port town with 1000 years of history, famous for links with the Ancient Mariner. Lovely esplanade and Marina from where you can go out on a yacht or a fishing boat.  Watchet Carnival here in July. Lovely pubs and cafes.
  • Dunster   medieval village and castle. very popular
  • Minehead   old Victorian seaside resort, excellent views and harbour as well as cafes pubs and shops. Minehead also offers the excellent Butlins great for a day out.

 

 

Not quite as nearby…but still close

  • Exmoor, the Quantocks, Brendon Hills...  Great for exploring by car or on foot.
  • Porlock, Lynton & Lynmouth...  scenic coastal views, this is one of our favourite areas to visit.
  • Exeter, Taunton...   City and County town ideal for shopping, theatres and cinemas.
